The sports betting bills have some provisions meant to deter people who might be at risk of developing an addiction. Both, however, have said they do not want to see slot machines at gas stations or convenience stores. Greg Abbott and House Speaker Dade Phelan, R-Beaumont, have also expressed support for expanding gambling in Texas. Lois Kolkhorst of Brenham, are carrying the sports betting bills, which could mean the bills have a better chance than in previous sessions.
